Berneslai Homes: An Arms Length Management Organisation responsible for managing just under 20,000 homes on behalf of Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council.

When they had to consolidate two stores in to one, and with previous experience of Dexion products and services, they contacted Multistore Storage Systems Ltd for help and advice.

Initial consultations with Paul Clerehugh, Projects manager and Terry Dillingham, Stores manager, identified the main products to be addressed.

Bulk timber stock, dry goods stock,
Pipe, tube and profile stock
Large ceramics and plumbing
Electrical, cable and heating
Tiles, adhesives, paints, flues and chimneys
Plus all the fast moving consumable items etc.

Nothing hand loaded over 2 mts high. A counter area to cater for 3-6 maintenance team members. All to be enclosed in a secure area, but still permit limited access for their side loading forklift truck.

Mike Williams on our Technical sales side was tasked with finding a solution to the client’s requirements.

“With any customer focussed operation, reaction time is foremost. Therefore we determined that the smaller fast moving goods of the respective trades would be closer to the servery. These would be stored using Lista cabinets and Dexion HI-280 Shelving to improve retrieval times. Larger less frequently needed items could be stored on Dexion Longspan shelving but still within “Trade Lanes”.
Cantilever racking for the tube stock and a larger Cantilever system in the outer compound for the PSE timber stock Dexion P90 pallet racking was used to accommodate the Dry goods and large timber.
The internal compound is 4.4mtr high freestanding mesh with lockable bi-parting sliding doors 4.2 mts high for fork truck access.”
